Landmark Application to Transform Former Port Talbot Bank
We are proud to announce that we have now submitted our full planning application to revitalise the former bank at 48 Station Road, Port Talbot, creating 13 high quality affordable homes while preserving and celebrating the heritage of this well known building.
For us at Life Property Group, this scheme represents far more than a standard redevelopment. It is an opportunity to breathe new life into a prominent town centre landmark, supporting regeneration efforts already underway in Port Talbot and helping to meet local housing need with thoughtfully designed, modern homes.
One of the most important principles guiding this project is our commitment to protecting the historic character of the building. The bank’s traditional frontage, familiar to generations of local people, will be retained and restored and will continue its life as office space within the development. We believe strongly that heritage and progress should work together rather than compete, and this scheme is designed to respect the past while providing for the future.

Behind the retained façade, a contemporary three storey extension will provide 13 affordable one bedroom apartments, each designed with practical layouts, generous natural light and modern living in mind. By combining sensitive conservation with high quality new design, we aim to set a benchmark for how older buildings in town centres can be reimagined to meet today’s needs.
Station Road has already seen several older commercial buildings repurposed over recent years, reflecting a wider shift across town centres everywhere. Our proposals build on this momentum by bringing a long vacant building back into meaningful use, strengthening local footfall and supporting a more vibrant, lived in high street.
This project reflects what we believe in as a company: sustainable development, community minded regeneration and creating places that genuinely enhance the towns and cities we work in.
We are excited about what this could mean for Port Talbot and we look forward to working with the community and the planning authority as the application moves forward.
